Laying on of Hands

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

The other day I was reminded of how many people have testified about God’s healing power in recent times. Mark Lawrence spoke of how God restored him with zest for life at a time when he felt as if the ‘power supply’ had gone off in him. Joan Wightman shared about how she was miraculously healed following a recurrence of a cancer she had had four years ago. Marilyn spoke of God’s power in restoring her wrist. Mahongo testified that her knee got healed of a pain that had begun to restrict her movement. Sadie has had one scheduled operation put off because the doctors could not find the disorder they intended treat. And the list goes on…Norman Arrowsmith, Rosy Cole, Akin Ande…

Jesus talked about this in Mark 16:17-18 ‘These signs shall accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands and they will drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.’

The signs accompany those who believe. Believing is simply agreeing with what God says he has done for us. That in Christ God has bought us salvation: spiritual life, physical healing and provision for all we need for life and godliness.

Where this conviction exists, action is always present…‘they will’. Driving out demons, new tongues…placing hands on the sick is acting according to what we believe. Therefore, believing alone is not enough to see miraculous healings, signs and wonders. We have to commit ourselves to the action of praying for the sick with laying on of hands.

The more we live practicing the laying on of hands, the more miraculous healings we are going to experience. And it does not have to be in the meeting. You can lay hands on sick people in their home, your home, on the bus, in your school or workplace or hospital. Because we believe we will see more and more manifestations of miraculous healings – Jesus’ fame will grow and cover the whole earth just as the waters cover the sea. Keep believing, keeping placing your hands on the sick.
