“Oldham…. nevertheless”

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

“David and all the Israelites marched to Jerusalem (that is, Jebus). The Jebusites who lived there said to David, ‘You will not get in here.’ Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion, the City of David”

1 Chronicles 11:4-5 (NIV)

Oldham. Population: 217,273. Only 100,000 less than the City of Cardiff. Increasingly multi-cultural and multi-faith. Oldham was included by the Bishop of Rochester, Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, to be one of the ‘no-go areas’ for non-Muslims due to Islamic extremism and multi-culturalism. In some way, Oldham represents a growing trend in the nation. Nevertheless, we will take Oldham!

The main aims of Oldham Council are to build safe and strong communities. Communities that experience economic prosperity with increased business growth and employment opportunities. Communities that are healthy, where there is better health for all, whatever race or background. These are all characteristics of the kingdom of God. We will take Oldham!

The knowledge of the glory of God will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea. The kingdoms of this earth will, and have, become the kingdoms of our God and of his Christ; in every tribe and language and people and nation. God’s desire is that his will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This includes Oldham!

God has spoken that there will be healings on the streets of Oldham. There will be salvation on the streets and in homes; in the market place and in offices. God has spoken there is an outpouring of the Spirit coming to Oldham. God has spoken his glory will fall over Oldham. God has indeed spoken. He has many people in the town waiting to turn to him. ‘The least will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation’… come let us take Oldham!

God Opens Doors (GOD) and he is faithful!

Maybin testifies to God Opening Doors for him.

At my work it was announced that some redundancies were to be made and it did not concern me that I would be affected. To my surprise and shock, I was. There I was now trying to think where my next income would come from. My work colleagues were more than surprised. Damien gave a testimony of a similar incident at work and how God provided for him a new job. I went up to him and told him, in faith that I was going to have a similar testimony. I also heard testimonies of others where God had done the same, particularly those who had been prayed for during the weekly prayer meetings.

While at Richard’s house one evening, he prayed over this. Later on that week, I was informed an advert on a website which a work colleague thought would fit my next job description. I applied for the position. My wife prophesied that I would not lose income during this transition period. We prayed that God would grant me peace and that we would not be anxious. I began to declare his word over the situation. I said to myself it’s not about my education or my CV, but about God’s faithfulness. That week God gave me a song of worship, “You are faithful”, which I sang all week and with the congregation on the Sunday morning service. I was also encouraged by Pete and was prayed for by the elders.

I found that I was short-listed for interview and I remembered what Ezekiel had said some time ago: ‘if God begins to do a miracle, even half way through it, declare that he will do it totally’. I testified to the prayer group that Friday that I believed God would finish what he had began. Ezekiel heard from God during that prayer time that the job was given to me right at that moment I gave the confession.

I went for interview and learnt that only one out of five candidates was needed. During the interview break one interviewee began to pace up and down and made direct remarks at me stating that I did not have enough experience for the job., but that she had what the university needed. I went outside and some doubt seemed to have come over me whether this was already won or not. But I hang on to the words God had said to me and remembered that if God is for us, no one can be against us (Rom 8:31); when God opens doors, no one can shut (Isa 22:22); God will not fail you or forsake you (Deut 31:8). I began to pray in tongues and went to the car park to pray and prepare again for the formal afternoon interview. It was a hard interview but I said all I could and it was good. I felt reassured and had to wait all weekend to hear the outcome. I was at the Bible Week when I remembered to access my email on my mobile phone. I was delighted when I discovered that I had been offered the job. I jumped and praised God!

God Opens Doors (GOD) and he is faithful! Our faith is exercised by our confession even in the midst of a crisis because faith speaks. Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph in his name!

Ministries Without Borders®… It’s Who We Are!

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Ministries Without Borders is not a denomination or even just a network of churches. Ministries Without Borders speaks of Christian brothers and sisters working together to see the whole world filled with the good news of the rule and reign of King Jesus. It’s about all of us using the gifts, talents and abilities that God has given us to see our world transformed by the love and power of Christ. He has called us to go into every nation and there are no borders, boundaries or limits that can prevent us from fulfilling the commission He has given.

For many years we’ve enjoyed receiving equipping ministry and authoritative direction from apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers working together under the banner of Ministries Without Borders. They empower us and release us as a church to be who God has called us to be. Their message is simple, we are all ministries without borders!

Why not check out our brand new website at www.ministrieswithoutborders.com? There’s loads of exciting news about how God is using us around the world.
