Zoe
Zoe Lush tells her story…
Zoe is a fresher at Manchester
University who started her Geography
degree in September
2008.
When I first arrived in Manchester I was terrified. I was over 250 miles
from home and had moved from a small village to a major city, but I knew
that God had brought me here for a reason, although it was still not clear
to me what.
When I first walked into King’s House I was overwhelmed by how welcome
I was made. Before the meeting had started several of the things
I was looking for in a church had already been met, and when the meeting
did start it was everything I could have asked for and more. I felt the
power of God there and then, and for the first time since moving I felt
at peace and knew that this was where God wanted me. The meeting
wasn’t the only thing to blow me away. The student events were varied
and fun and offered a great chance to make and build friendships, friendships
which have now become invaluable. And joining the church has
been one of the best things which I have done this year, it has given me
a sense of belonging and a place where I can just be myself. As well as,
and most importantly, allowing me to further develop into all that God
has for me.
By the end of this year I felt so at home and so loved by those around
me that it was hard to say goodbye for the summer. I now cannot wait
to return and move with what God is doing in me and in the church! It is
going to be an exciting year.
