God has chosen His people, the church, to be the way in which we see the streets we live in restored and repaired. We regularly meet together as a church in King’s House which is surrounded by the areas of Brunswick, Hulme and Ardwick.

As we leave King’s House we are no less the church & we continue to be surrounded by people who need to see restoration in their lives. Therefore we, the church, are starting a Kids Club as a way to reach out to those around us.

What is Kids Club?

Kids Club is an hour of fun, games, music and Bible teaching for 7-11 year olds. It’s a chance to share the love of Jesus in a fun, enjoyable & relevant way. It’s a great opportunity for the children in the church to learn more about Jesus and to reach out to their friends. It’s also a great opportunity for us to reach out to the children in the area surrounding King’s House in Central Manchester.

Parent’s Café

Alongside Kids Club we are running a café for the parents and families to relax in. There will be delicious food, comfy seats and good company. This is a chance for the families of those children who attend Kids Club to experience the love of Jesus and to build relationship with those who are part of the church.

When is Kids Club?

It will be on alternate Saturday mornings from 10.30-11.30am starting on 17th April.

Here is a wonderful opportunity to both serve the children in the church and to reach out to our local community! I’m sure you’re desperate to know how you can get involved! We need people to help serve with the children, drive the buses, help with home visits, set up and pack down, serve in the cafe and help with administration. We’d love you to come to Kids Club and to have fun learning more about Jesus. We’d love you too to think about your friends in your class or on your street who you’d like to bring along. Jesus has chosen you and sent you to see the lives of people around you changed and restored!

On the 13th of February, the youth from King’s Church Manchester, Salford New Life and Oldham’s All Nations met with other youths from our related churches across the country in Stoney Stanton, Leicester. It was great to be with people who share the same beliefs and catch up with old friends!

The day started with sermons and the main message was that Jesus paid the ultimate price for us by dying on the cross and how we need to finish that race. I realised there is a world to change and we are the kingdom generation who need to grasp this vision to make things happen. We then listened to a marvellous miracle from a woman who was blind but can now see! It was amazing to listen to the great things that God does.

The Holy Spirit was definitely present amongst us during worship. Healing and praying took place and it was great to see a youth pray for another youth. The fact we were there to encourage each other really shows how united we are in Christ.

There were also seminars on media, entertainment, fashion, law and medicine – just to mention a few. It was an eye-opener to see how God’s people can be used in different aspects of society. It never occurred to me that God can use us in everything we do, even our jobs!

Perhaps the most touching and eye-opening aspect of the day was hearing about God’s healing and that all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. It taught me to acknowledge how blessed I am to have an amazing life with God and that He is always there for me, which means I needn’t worry.

Although it was sad that the day was ending, I look forward to other days living my life for God to the full. The day ended on a high with our mighty pizza feast. This was definitely a memorable day for me, and I’m sure it was the same for all the youths there.

Eno Andah

Adoption
Grace was seven days old when she was brought by her biological mother for adoption to our Center. Her mother just visited her once, and admitted that she could not care for her and wanted us to find good parents for her.

Grace stayed in our Center for 11 months. A Filipino, Christian childless couple both teachers by profession, fell in love with her immediately after seeing her case folder at the Social Welfare Office.

Mr. and Mrs. Jose and Janet Villa were just blessed for their new baby who was discharged to them on March 5, 2010. It is always a mix of joy and sadness as one of the children are leaving us. But our whole purpose for the children home is to find good parents for the abundant babies.

Medical mission
Is a program to help poor people with free medical and dental assistance. Today we had four dentists and two medical doctors helping almost 300 patients. These are all from our neighboring area in Cavite.

Because of the great help from the church in Ottawa Canada, we are able to help them all with free medication. They all listened to the gospel and learned how to receive Jesus. It is a great joy to be able to share the best medicine, ever – the gospel of the kingdom with the people.

Noralv and Tone

“So Mephibosheth ate at David’s table like one of the king’s sons.” 2 Samuel 9:11b (NIV)

Last week, a few friends threw me a surprise birthday party. I was in awe at how much effort they had gone to orchestrate it, and even more when I found out they had planned it for weeks. I thought to myself, “Why would anyone think about me?”

A couple of Sundays before, Dave Emmett preached about eating at God’s table and knowing our true identity as sons and daughters of the king. He told the story of King David in 2 Samuel 9, who invited crippled Mephibosheth to eat regularly at his table as though he was the King’s own son.

From then on, the Holy Spirit reminded me that I was worth more than I thought. I repented of my small thinking and low opinions of myself, as though I was of so little value to my friends that they should plan anything for my birthday.

For a long time, false humility robbed me of my true identity. But Dave’s message and the surprise birthday really changed me. That night, I felt honoured and recognised. I was certainly worth all their time and effort in planning the birthday-do.

This is the same honour God has given to us. We are to know our self-worth and our God-given rights as the King’s sons and daughters, the right to sit next to him and dine with him. We as individuals are highly favoured and loved by the King himself. We can now live a life of freedom and integrity because Jesus took our shame and in exchange gave us his honour when he died for us.

Wan-Phing

“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows – this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.” Psalm 68: 5-6 (NLT)

The VIP Women’s Night was yet another successful night held for women in the city who are homeless and living in hostels.

It was an opportunity for King’s Church members to practically demonstrate the love of Jesus to these women by providing food, clothes, toiletries and showing them how important they are in God’s eyes.

Having attended VIP for the last three years, I can say that it just keeps getting better and better every year.

The room was set up like a wedding party, complete with pink and black halogen balloons, the night’s menu, sparkling juice and goodie bags. The delicious chicken balti could already be smelled from the hallway.

The night was hosted by Judith Ude and the gospel shared by Kate Hancock. Shona then told a powerful testimony of how Jesus saved her from her lowest point in life and how things have changed since becoming homeless herself. She was baptised in water three weeks ago and is now very much a part of the church family.

Sisters Sarah and Louise Gregg performed a string of ballads from Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston and Coldplay among many others while the women enjoyed their delicious homemade desserts – a choice between chocolate gateau with fresh fruits and cream or banoffee pie, served with tea and coffee.

After their meals, the women were pampered with hand massages, manicures and hairdos. It was a great time to get to know the ladies even better. Many left with bags and bags of clothes, shoes and accessories which were generously donated by members of the church.

The women took away a lot from that night, but most importantly they took with them the love of Jesus as demonstrated through every Christian on that night.
