My name is Jay and I grew up in South Africa. I went to a Christian high school although my family weren’t Christians. There I learnt about Jesus but it was just the facts, I didn’t know him personally.

On leaving high school, I started using drugs, going to clubs and getting into unfulfilling relationships. For almost 10 years I was trapped in this lifestyle which destroyed my health, finances and relationship with my family members. I tried everything from Eastern philosophies to Western self-help philosophies to break away, but any change was temporary at best.

One night when my life was at its lowest, I was suddenly reminded of how much I needed God’s love in my life. I called out to Jesus saying I could no longer live this way and asked him to forgive me for living life so recklessly. From that night on, the love of Jesus changed my life. I started reading the Bible and to my surprise the words seemed to speak about every issue I faced. I began to meet with church members who have become family to me; they love and encourage me. Since that night, my life has been completely transformed. Jesus healed me physically, emotionally and spiritually from all the damage I had done to myself. I no longer suffer the guilt and shame I once did.

With Jesus, I have found what I have always been looking for; long lasting love, joy, peace and happiness. I’m excited to live this life with a God who loves me because I now have a hope and a future.
