My name is Sumbo and I come from Nigeria. I was brought up as a Muslim, and as a child I was very scared of God because I thought he was there to punish me when I did something wrong. I tried to be good and behave myself because I was afraid of God.

When I was 10 years old, my mother left and I was really heartbroken and angry at the world. But a few years later a Christian friend told me that I could know Jesus as my friend and father. He told me that God didn’t want to punish me but that he wants to love me and change me. This was totally different than the angry God I thought I knew.

That completely blew my mind because it was what I have been looking for. My mum leaving had left me feeling abandoned, yet I was told of a God who would never leave me. I really wanted that, so I gave my life to Jesus and became a Christian.

Since then, I have become a completely different person. Jesus took away all the hurt, anger and resentment in my life. Now I am able to love others and I desire to please him all the time.

God has also given me a wonderful husband and two sons. He has given me peace and I know that my future is in his hands. I no longer panic and rush around when things are not going right because I know everything will work out well.

I love Jesus with all my heart because he’s transformed my life completely. I don’t know where I would be today if not for his love.
