Faithful ’til The End

The faithfulness of God is matchless and we could never compete with it. However the Bible tells us ‘if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ’ (Hebrews 3:14-9). This means we must commit our lives to God and following him no matter. So surely, if we are to be faithful to God we need an example of faithfulness to follow – God’s.

The Bible is a beautiful picture of the unrelenting faithfulness of God. He is ferociously loyal – Noah, Moses, Jacob are some examples of his faithfulness in the Old Testament. Despite the fact he is hurt to the core by the way his people abandon him and forget him, he is faithful to Israel. He fulfilled his promises of sending Jesus to Earth to die for our sins, and is faithful still in all the promises he has for us throughout the New Testament.

‘I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips’ – Psalm 89:34

Not only will God be faithful to his promises, but he will not alter them, even if we feel we have let him down. The Bible even says that ‘if we are faithless, he remains faithful – for he cannot deny himself’ (2 Timothy 2:13). God’s nature is faithful, and he cannot denounce this part of himself. God has no evil part to him and ‘is not a man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind’ (Numbers 23:19). Anything he tells you about yourself is the truth. Because God is never changing, we also know that he will not change his mind or revoke what he has promised us. We have stability and safety in knowing that our God is in control and will be faithful ’til the end.
