Loved Sons & Daughters

We’ve all experienced times when we lacked confidence or didn’t feel completely secure in ourselves. Most of the time this is because how we perceive ourselves is inconsistent with how God sees us.

God has given us the identity as His children, and because we are His children, we have been blessed in so many ways. Once we fully embrace who God has called us to be, we can begin to live confidently in our true identity.

The Bible is full of encouraging and uplifting truths relating to our identity as God’s children, for example…

John 1:12 – But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light

2 Timothy 1:7 – for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

… and there is still so much more to revealed to us throughout the Scriptures!

Fortunately, there is no need for us to try and strive to be these things, God has already given us these amazing gifts and all there is for us to do, is to just be who God already says we are. We should also be encouraged that our confidence does not come from our own achievements, or what others think of us, but solely in our identity as God’s children.
